I was on the verge of having a panic attack…

We were moving into a new rental, and thanks to a semi-insane landlord, I didn’t think we were going to get our deposit back.

We didn’t have enough money to put down the deposit on our new house.

That’s how BAD our finances were at the time…

Things…weren’t…good.

I was at a crossroads.

I was working for a church in FL, which I enjoyed, but wasn’t making enough to support my family. At the recommendation of my pastor, I started looking for other jobs.

I didn’t have a ton of success in my job search until a friend told me about his friend who had just gotten started in the freelance writing world. Apparently this guy was making a real living as a freelance writer.

Two Steps Forward, One Back: A Freelance Writing Journey

I didn’t really have any idea what freelance writing entailed, but it sounded interesting so I scheduled a call with him.

When he told me he was on pace to make $80k that year, I was shocked.

Where I come from, that’s a pretty decent living.

He gave me a few tips to get started, but I didn’t really have much of an idea of what I was doing.

I basically had ZEROOOOOO clue about anything, including what the heck freelance writing even was.

My journey began with fits and starts, trying to find job boards, randomly applying for stuff, not really having any idea of what I was doing.

I made a LOT of mistakes and wasted a LOT of time.

But after a few months, things suddenly started to click.

I began to understand what I should and shouldn’t be doing.

I learned where to apply for jobs, how to pitch myself, etc. I actually started making good money for the first time in a long time.

Did you catch that? I actually started making real, good money.

Where I Am Now…

Now, jump ahead a full two years after I started.

Even though I made lots of mistakes, underpriced myself, took on bad jobs, wasted time…

I’m a successful freelance writer who can support his family, work from anywhere, and choose the jobs I want.

My revenue as a writer for the last 30 days…

I really want to be clear that I’m not saying this to show off or brag. It actually makes me feel weird saying it.

But I want you to understand that this is a real job and if you work at it, you make real money.

When I tell people about this, sometimes they say it feels like one of those scammy companies that just wants your money or that you have to invest in.

Like you’re going to have so start recruiting you friends to be on your “team”.

That’s not the case at all.

My clients are BUSINESSES who sell products. I sell them my writing services.

I work with digital marketing agencies and lawyers and ecommerce sellers and even people who sell razors.

Now I’m in a place where I have the privilege of helping other people launch their freelance writing careers, which is really rewarding.

I hope my story encourages you. Freelance writing is the real deal. If you’re willing to work at it, you can make it.

If this sounds interesting to you…
